Astragalus

Description
Compound leaves up to 6 inches long with yellow flowers and seed pods resembling small soybeans. It has a perennial, branched taproot. Astragalus can grow up to 2 feet tall.
Common Uses
Helps protect against the common cold and helps in the treatment of chronic bronchitis. It has also been shown (when ingested) to lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation of the heart muscle. It is also often used to treat fever, multiple allergies, anemia, stomach ulcers, and general digestive ailments, such as diarrhea.
History
The Chinese have used Astragalus for thousands of years. It first appeared in The Divine Husbandman's Classic of the Materia Media, an ancient Chinese medical text.
