Echinacea  Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea angustifolia

Echinacea is a stately plant with a striking flower with a height of 3 feet and a width of 2.5 feet, sometimes larger. The flowers are a few on each stalk, bright pink-purple, petals of 3 inches long, around a raised center disk of orange.

Deciduous shrub with white, wheel-shaped flowers in large terminal clusters. The fruit are berry-like, very juicy, and range from amber, red, black, purple, and blue. Height: 12-50 feet. Blooms in summer.

Stout round stem that is coarse and woolly, with yellow flowers that resemble sunflowers. The leaves are toothed and bristly on top, velvety underneath. It produces achenes that are brown, quadrangular, and ringed by pale reddish hairs.

Eucalyptus  Eucalyptus globulus

Tall, attractive tree growing up to 195 feet. The trunk is smooth and cream colored with a covering of grayish-blue bark that peels off in narrow strips. Creamy-white flowers are borne on short flat stalks, followed by fruit that is concealed in an aromatic, camphor scented, woody cup.

Evening Primrose  Oenothera biennis

Identified by its tall and dramatic flowering stalk. The flowers are fragrant with 4 yellow petals that stand out at a right angle from the plant. The flowers are grouped in bunches. It blooms from June to September. As the name implies, the flowers are open in the evening.

Eyebright  Euphrasia officinalus

Annual with flowers shooting out in terminal spikes with leafy bracts. Flowers are white or purple with yellow spots or stripes. Leaves are stiff, ovate, pointy, and small. It produces seeds with many ribs from small, flattened capsules. Height: 2-8 inches. Blooms: July-September.
